Word to the “politically wise.”

As the midterm elections approach the media and many in the political power classes would have us all believe that if there is a massive shift from red to blue, right to left during the election, it is because of President Trump.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

What is happening with the voter is that so many laws have been created, so many people have suffered through the last “great recession” financially, and there has been a massive expansion of the “surveillance state” * (see note at conclusion) both state sponsored surveillance and corporate surveillance of the citizen that a large, generational and criminal class has been created by the system lead by a class of do-gooders and holier-than-thous that carry little, real social weight, work little compared to the guy in the trenches, but have been able to position themselves, primarily through clever use of the media, as “the righteous” when in fact they are merely flinging their excrement around like a bunch of primates in a glass cage at the zoo.

Many consensual behaviors have also been regulated for so long and driven into a dark corner by the political classes and the mainstream media that we are witnessing a backlash from the voter. And who can blame them?

So many people have had run-ins with the law in some capacity or another and so many have lost everything for no good reason except greed and excessive taxation pulling the final piece out of the American puzzle that it all came down for so many and now the voter is reacting to it. Ssssslowly. But America is a sleeping giant. Watch out!

The political elite would like to blame somebody for their transgressions against the public on behalf of special interests, certain corporations, religious rightists and certain belief systems, you name it, whomever and whatever contributed the largest sums, and they’ve picked Trump as a convenient scapegoat.

But nothing could be further from the truth. Trump and his administration have probably done more good for the finances of the people of this country than the last five consecutive presidents, maybe more.

The political right, and many on the left, have painted themselves into a corner with the voter.

Luckily we have a democracy and the change in leadership can happen at the ballot box and it doesn’t happen on the town square with the guillotine.

It’s not about Trump and the political elite know it.

If there really is even a shift from right to left in this midterm, from red to blue as so many fear, the political elite created the voter that is about to displace them and they have nobody to blame but themselves.

Note: I changed “police state” to “surveillance state” as I believe that is  a more accurate description of the circumstances and I believe the police in general are not themselves responsible for a “police state” and have acquired a negative image recently, mainly for political expediency and media assertion into the marketplace. In other words, the police have been made a convenient fall guy.

The real problem we are witnessing as a country today is that it would appear that much of the country is still reeling from Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump via The Electoral College and they simply cannot put it to rest.

They refuse to let the person who won the election do the job of the people that voted for him. There is a reason for The Electoral College and we are seeing it manifest itself today and throughout Trump’s presidency.

One can’t help but believe that all of this anti-Trump activity coming from the mainstream media and from the entrenched Washington establishment is merely an orchestrated drama meant to make the voting public believe that Washington is doing what it was elected to do instead of catering to special interests and covering their hides.

I would agree that Trump and his administration have done incredible things for the economy such as halving corporate income taxes and removing many stifling regulations. One the regulatory side, though, I will say that enhancements are needed for such measures as The Clean Water and Clean Air Acts and not deregulation. Fuel economy standards should be increased as well, not lessened.

One major party would have us believe that without Trump, it would be the end of the democracy while the other plays a supporting role with violent outbursts on inauguration day and all that followed.

The entire system would have us believe they are doing our bidding but I am not so sure there has been that much of a shift in our favor. They have just gotten better at making us believe there has been change and much of that is due to the Oscar-winning performance by the lead actor President Trump. Much of that is due to the fact that even though we believe we are escaping the mass media’s scabby claw by going on the internet to get our news from a larger variety of sources, they have wheedled their way in to that, too.

One of the nice things about the country’s form of democracy is that change is inevitable when it comes to leadership in many offices and there is nothing that can be done about it.

But the political drama coming out of Washington D.C. is without a doubt orchestrated and the media are key players broadcasting the acts as they are written.

I’m still paying a lot of taxes, particularly for a single male with no property or dependents, while others get a “vote for me the so-called conservative because I gave a socialist tax break even though you use all the services and the single guy doesn’t” tax break.

I don’t feel any freer, either. I am probably not considering more laws are written every day.

So, I’m not entirely convinced unlike many I read. I guess my tolerance for whatever is in the cool-aid is much higher than most.

It’s still drama that’s coming out of Washington, and personally I like action.

Discussing politics with a friend who “thinks” he is a conservative he brought up the age-old adage, “if you vote for the third-party candidate, it’s the same as voting for the competition.”

“WRONG!” I replied. You have just been programmed to be a voting robot by the two major parties, that’s all. That’s just what the two major parties would have you believe.

Voting for a third-party candidate is not like voting for the other party in a two-party system. Voting for the third party candidate is voting for the third party candidate.

I would add that if you feel your situation hasn’t improved and you keep voting year after year for one of the two major parties, that is the same thing as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, what many consider a form of insanity.

So, if you have voted for one of the two major parties year after election year and your situation hasn’t changed and you want it to change for the better, start looking at third-party candidates.

You might be glad you did.
