Let’s not forget in 2020

on:Now that the holiday season is upon us I want to remind everyone not to forget the less fortunate, those who serve the country and work for our communities, and also to consider the natural future of our planet and its environment. The following are some organizations that I support regularly or volunteer with that could use your support, too.
If you would like, you may donate by clicking directly on the links in this text or merely sign up for local chances to volunteer if available. In no particular order:
Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Many large cities have their own children’s hospital. You may donate for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin by clicking at the beginning of this paragraph.
The USO https://secure.uso.org/?sc=WEBDONTRIL Supporting the morale, welfare, and recreation of troops around the world and helping them stay connected.
Disabled American Veterans http://www.dav.org DAV will help you get to the VA for medical visits or complete paperwork associated with VA claims and specializes in working with veterans injured in combat.
Paralyzed Veterans of America http://www.SupportVeterans.org A great organization dedicated to serving veterans suffering from spinal injuries.
Homes for Our Troops http://hfotusa.org is an organization with an excellent goal, “To build mortgage-free, specially adapted homes nationwide for severely injured Veterans Post-9/11, to enable them to rebuild their lives.”
I have worked as a volunteer on one of these homes doing general things, handing roofing shingles up to the roofers, carrying wood to work locations, that kind of thing. They always need people. You can see if there is a home scheduled to be built in your area and volunteer by visiting their website.
Audubon http://www.audubon.org/ One of the most active organizations in seeing that our natural world is monitored and conserved. The Audubon Society does some incredible things when it comes to helping to restore and conserve natural environments. Take your kids to an Audubon Conservation Center for a guided hike and you will see what I mean.
The International Crane Foundation https://www.savingcranes.org/ Eleven of the fifteen crane species face extinction, eleven of the fifteen species!
A few of these organizations accept donations of as little as a couple of dollars online and when a lot of people donate that way it really helps.
And don’t forget about your local food pantry. There is one in every town.

Had President Trump not instructed his potential voters to vote in person instead of by mail-in ballot, there would have been more mail-in ballots for President Trump. Strategic error. Trump created muddy ground for his voters by providing confusing instructions and frequently ridiculed the mail-in voting process. Might work once you are elected. Doesn’t when you are trying to get elected.
I do not say here who should be president. That is not the origin of this observation. Outcomes have historically changed and I make no attempt at calling such a finish.
Essentially, the entire administration instructed Republican voters not to vote by mail. Trumpers follow orders. Consequently there are many fewer mail-in ballots for Trump. This explains the phase-shift in the distribution of votes, or a shift in the mean distribution of votes in favor of Biden later in the tallying process. Take the curve and slide it towards Biden on the number line almost immediately when you begin tallying the mail-in ballots because the Trump administration instructed its voters not to use mail-in ballots. I believe this explanation refutes the claims made by Trump’s attorneys that mail-in ballots being predominatly in favor of Biden indicate stuffing.
I am not an attorney though I have witnessed such behavior and speech elsewhere and it is basically filed under the heading of defensive political rhetoric, and in The US it is protected free speech due to the requirement for entry into the court system in order to achieve legal and financial remedy if damages are in fact determined, and the court’s public address or a declarative prounouncemnt orginating from the court must be issued in order for the change of office.
In all of the campaigns I’ve worked on, you never ever tell someone to vote for the other candidate, even if you have a gaping ideological chasm between candidate and voter, you don’t tell them not to vote for your candidate in any context, ever, such as don’t use a certain type of ballot (mail-in ballot) or when to use or not use the ballot (could also be considered tampering but that’s not the reason to not give those instructions) and you never ever tell them when to vote other than vote as soon as you can. These things are fundamental to a successful campaign. If they didn’t keep him apprised, Trump’s campaign advisors have led him astray in such regard.

A country perpetually in the courts
Posted by: William Thien on: November 17, 2020
To me it well appears that given the current political climate and its contentious nature, in particular during the last four years of the present administration, that the preponderance of significant executive and legislative activity has landed in the courts.
I am not a legal scholar though I do not believe one must be to reach such a conclusion.
I pose the question:
Does that mean the courts have become too functionally powerful either through process or position and therefore must be moderated by legislation of some approach, and how best to produce such a legislative composition?
